The Primogenix PRX-B6N and PRX-129 are high-quality Murine Embryonic Stem Cells derived from B6N and 129 mice, respectively. These mESCs are karyotypically normal and germline competent. The mESCs were first isolated in 1981, Murine Embryonic Stem Cells, or “ES cells,” are used to produce mouse models of human disease that aid in the understanding of and in the development of therapies for genetic diseases in humans. The discovery and use of mouse ES cells and associated technology that allows the precise modification of individual genes has had such a major impact on biomedical research that the three scientists who laid the ground work for the use of mouse ES cells and the associated gene targeting technology were awarded the 2007 Nobel Prize in Medicine.
