Thermo Fisher Scientific Adds New Tools to Stem Cell Research Platform
With Thermo Scientific HyClone AdvanceSTEM Amniotic Epithelial Expansion Kit and CET
Human Amniotic Epithelial Stem Cells
LOGAN, Utah, (June 30, 2008) – Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving
science, has introduced the Thermo Scientific HyClone AdvanceSTEM Amniotic Epithelial
Expansion Kit and Human Amniotic Epithelial (HAE) Stem Cells, two new products to support
research applications.
The AdvanceSTEM Amniotic Epithelial Expansion Kit was developed specifically to support the
expansion of Amniotic Epithelial Stem Cells. The HAE cells retain embryonic stem cell
characteristics and are useful for tissue differentiation into cells of all three germ layers.
By using this kit, scientists can expand HAE Cells more quickly and easily than with other
methods. The AdvanceSTEM Amniotic Epithelial Expansion Medium is tested and validated for
the expansion of HAE Cells. By using this medium, researchers are able to reduce additional
testing. Amniotic Epithelial Expansion Medium allows the researcher to expand cells into usable
amounts furthering research in tissue differentiation such as conversion into pancreatic islet cells,
liver hepatocytes, cardiomyocyte and others.
The AdvanceSTEM Kit and CET Cells are part of the Thermo Scientific Stem Cell Excellence
portfolio, an end-to-end workflow solution that incorporates essential instruments, equipment,
consumables, reagents and media, services and software tailored to the needs of stem-cell
laboratories. Learn more at www.thermo.com/stemcell
